Matt D'Agostini had two goals, one of which came 1:45 into overtime as the Canadiens defeated the Islanders, 3-2. Guillaume Latendresse had the other Canadiens goal, while Jeff Tambellini and Radek Martinek scored the Islanders' goals.
Wade Dubielewicz and Mike Morisson made 8 saves each for the Islanders. Dubielewicz gave up one goal, while Morisson gave up two. Carey Price stopped 24 of 26 while going the distance for Montreal.
