
The Washington Capitals and Tampa Bay Lightning had a quiet, low-scoring game Saturday night, and the Capitals won, 2-1. Dave Steckel opened the scoring for the Capitals at 7:46 of the first, then Martin St. Louis scored for the Lightning at 11:17. In the second period, Alexander Semin scored for the Capitals just 1:41 in, and then it was all goaltending from there.
Brent Johnson stopped 18 of 19 for the Capitals to get the win. Johan Holmqvist stopped 18 of 20 for the Lightning to get the loss.
