Just when the Kings thought they could get back in the game, Paul Stastny and and T.J. Hensick scored two insurance goals midway through the third period to seal the scoring in a 6-3 Avalanche victory. They were the second goals of the game for each player. The Avs also saw goals from Ryan Smyth and Andrew Brunette. The Kings saw goals from Peter Harrold, Derek Armstrong, and Brian Boyle.
Jean-Sebastien Aubin and Jason LaBarbera split time for the Kings in net. Aubin made 13 saves on 15 shots, while LaBarbera made 12 of 16 stops for the loss. Peter Budaj stopped 17 of 20, playing the whole game.
