Avs fall to Kings in shootout


The Los Angeles Kings defeated the Colorado Avalanche, 3-2 in a shootout at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas Saturday night. Tyler Arnason opened the scoring at 12:52 of the first period, and Paul Stastny had his 5th goal of the preseason in the second for the Avalanche. Anze Kopitar had a second period goal, and Dustin Brown tallied in the third to tie the game for the Kings. After a scoreless overtime, Dustin Brown scored the final goal in the shootout to win it for the Kings.
Tyler Weiman stopped 24 of 26 shots for the Avalanche and got the shootout loss. Jonathan Bernier stopped 27 of 29 shots and got the shootout win for the Kings.
